5 Types of Energy We Must Invest In

To be successful, focus your energy on these five areas.

One of my all-time favorite books is called “The Power of Full Engagement” by Jim Lohr and Tony Schwartz. The main theme of the book is that energy, not time, is the fundamental currency of high performance.

You see, we can’t make more time—there are only 24 hours in a day, after all. Yet, you can get more into your day by having incredible energy. One of my favorite strategies in this area comes from Gary Keller’s book, “The Millionaire Real Estate Agent,” where he describes five areas where we must invest our energies in order to be successful:

“If you focus on maintaining, restoring, and increasing your energy in these areas, you can’t help but have a successful day. “

  1. Spiritual energy. In the morning, read something spiritual, or else pray or meditate.
  2. Physical energy. Early in the day, exercise and be sure to eat something nutritious.
  3. Emotional energy. Find someone to hug, laugh with, or even kiss. Doing this as part of your morning routine will help restore your emotional energy.
  4. Mental energy. Try to learn something new every day. I like to read for 20 minutes a day before leaving the house; if you read that much each day, you could finish about 30 books a year.
  5. Business energy. This entails lead generation, which is facilitated by increasing your energy in the previous four areas.

If you have any questions about investing your energy for success or anything else to do with fostering a better career, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from you.
