Malibu home of billionaire Rick Caruso asks $40 million

Billionaire real-estate mogul, Rick Caruso, has put his Cape Cod-inspired Malibu beach house on the market for $40 million. The beachfront home boasts stunning views of the ocean and an inviting interior, in a classic bright white exterior.

Mr. Caruso purchased the property in 2008. He scrapped the home that was previously built on the site and built the current home of around 7,300 square feet from the ground up. The rather unique, Hamptons or Cape Cod-inspired design of the home was a proof of concept for Caruso’s resort the Miramar Beach Hotel in Montecito.

The home is richly furnished and has a warm atmosphere. The living spaces feature great views of the Pacific ocean. The 5-bedroom home also has an open central courtyard, a stone-paved driveway, and a limestone fountain imported from France.

The home’s interior design is defined by a strong black and white theme, with white walls and black details and furnishing. The tiling in the entryway is one of the most notable examples of this.

Another example of the black and white theme: The kitchen features a striking black island in contrast to the white walls and cabinets.

The home certainly stands out in its Malibu environs, looking more at home in the Hamptons than on the West Coast.
