Form healthy habits with Streaks

Forming good habits is essential to living a healthy and productive life. Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, it is far easier to develop the habits of watching Netflix and consuming excessive amounts of junk food than eating healthy and getting regular exercise. Fortunately, there are a number of helpful apps available for tracking and managing your habits. For simplicity and clarity of design, it’s hard to beat Streaks.

Streaks allows you to create and track a number of different habits. These can be whatever you want from walking your dog to drinking a certain amount of water. You can assign days of the week and times to each habit, as well as customize how many times each day you want to do a given activity. To mark down that you have completed the task, you just press and hold the icon for a few seconds and it will add it to your streak for that habit.

Streaks is a beautifully simple application. The design is minimalistic, but also highly customizable. You can change the color scheme, from the basic orange to a wide range of other colors. There is a large number of clean pre-designed icons that can be assigned to each habit.

The app keeps track not just of your streaks, but also what days you did better or worse on particular habits and your average completion rate for each. It is also integrated with Apple Health.

Streaks only allows you to track a few habits at once. While this can be inconvenient, the purpose of the app is to help you build the habits so that once you’ve truly acquired them, you can move on to different ones—to build your arsenal, so to speak.
