An oceanfront estate in one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the country has been listed by the Corcoran Group with an asking price of $52.5 million, the Wall Street Journal reports. Built in Southampton, NY almost half a century ago by Barneys New York Chair, Fred Pressman, and his wife, Phyllis Pressman, the seaside estate shares a ZIP code with many sports stars, celebrities, and business leaders.
The home is just under 6,000 square feet and sits on a 3 acre plot, complete with a tennis court, pool, 2-car garage, and, of course, a generous portion of Atlantic coastline. Together with the lush greenery, the grey stucco and wood shingle construction give it the feel of a cottage. It is warm, inviting, and somewhat whimsical.
The quasi-rustic exterior belies the very sleek and modern design of the home by French designer Andrée Putnam.
The circular staircase in the foyer leads up to a large and open living area on the second floor, with an office space at one end and an open air veranda at the other. The house has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
The interior is marked by openness and light. Bay windows look out to the endless ocean outside.
